Conducting One Specific Type Of Interview Can Boost Employee Engagement

Conducting One Specific Type Of Interview Can Boost Employee Engagement | Retain Top Talent | Scoop.it
To increase employee engagement, you need to know what the cause of the disengagement and dissatisfaction is in the first place. Conducting one specific type of interview can help you find out what that is.
Barry Deutsch's insight:

One element of conducting an effective one-to-on I suggest in my workshops on Engaging Employees - You're the Person We Want to Keep, and in my workshop Managing Remotely in a Crisis is the idea of conducting a LIB Discussion (Learning, Impact, and Becoming). In HR terminology this is called a Stay Interview. It's a powerful way to re-engage your employees. I recommend spending 15-20 minutes on this LIB dialogue at least once a quarter. See my LinkedIn article on what questions to ask and how to stimulate this conversation.

6 tips on remote work success during COVID-19 | Canadian HR Reporter

6 tips on remote work success during COVID-19 | Canadian HR Reporter | Retain Top Talent | Scoop.it
Regular check-ins, relaxed rules, leadership support among solutions...
Barry Deutsch's insight:

Here's my key take away from the article (there was some other good information about communication and the cadence of check-ins):

“Most people are probably worried about where they stand from a job standpoint. HR departments should definitely be open to having people talk to them about anxieties related to their job security, that’s a huge one. You may even want your leadership to pre-empt some of those worries by getting in front of that question. I took the time to actually let people know I’m available if you are worried about job security: ‘Come and talk to me.’ I’m going to tell you all the things that we’re going to do before they even have to worry about that.’”

Are you or your management team members having these conversations? Do your front line employees feel reassured?

If you're not a member of the top executive team, has your manager taken the time to give you comfort the future of your job?

How to improve employee engagement

How to improve employee engagement | Retain Top Talent | Scoop.it
Tap into technology like Yammer to reach a remote workforce. At the start of the pandemic, communicators were thrust into a crash course on how to engage a remote workforce. Some were more prepared than others.
Barry Deutsch's insight:

In my complimentary workshops for Vistage Groups on Managing Remotely in a Crisis we've been talking about the need for leveraging technology to improve communications. Many companies are still stuck ina 1970s model of old-school communication even with a hybrid model of some staff in the office and some remote. EVERYONE is now a technology company. Are you helping your employees to be successful or do they feel like mushrooms in the dark.
